Installing the Trusona App
Before you get started with the instructions below you'll need to install and register with the Trusona App.
- Download the Trusona App on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Follow the registration steps in the App.
- Verify your email by clicking the link from Trusona.
- You're setup and ready to go!
Salesforce Multi-Factor Authentication for Users
This guide goes over users setting up the Trusona app for multi-factor authentication on their own accounts.
1. Log in to Salesforce

2. Before Proceeding
Make sure to have the Trusona app installed on your mobile device before proceeding
3. Access Settings
There are 2 options for accessing the User Settings

In the Quick Find search box, enter “Advanced User Details” and click on the Advanced User Details result.

In the Quick Find search box, enter “Personal Information” and click on the Personal Information result.
4. Connecting with App Registration
Locate the App Registration: One-Time Password Generator option and click on Connect
The **App Registration: One-Time Password Generator** option should ONLY be clicked if you are using an app other than the Salesforce Authenticator.
If you are using the **Salesforce Authenticator app**, you should use the **App Registration: Salesforce Authenticator** option instead. That setting enables both push notifications and one-time password generation.
5. Security Login
You will be prompted to log into your account for security purposes.
6. Scan the QR Code
A QR code will be shown on the screen.
- Open the Trusona app, and tap on the Settings menu
- Tap 2-step verification (TOTP)
- Scan the QR code
- Type in the number you see from the Trusona app
7. Finalize
Enter the code from the app into the Verification code field, then click Connect It should now show that Two-Factor Authentication is set up with the Trusona app. You should also receive an email notifying you a new verification method has been added to your account.
If your Salesforce Admin sets up the security feature, you will still receive the notification email. Be sure to verify this with them for security purposes.
Setup complete! The next time you log in to Salesforce and are prompted for a One-time passcode, you can use the Trusona app to log in.

9. Accessing User Permissions
On the home page, type “Permissions” into the Quick Find box and click on the Permission Sets search result
10. Creating a New Permission Set
On the Permission Set page, click on the New button to make a new permission set
11. Filling in the Information
Fill in each field shown to you as required and once complete click on Save.
12. Permissions Setting
On the Permissions Set page, click on the Find Settings and find the Two-Factor Authentication for User Interface Logins. Typing in “Two Factor” will help narrow down the search results.
13. Editting the Permissions
At the top of the section, locate the Edit button and click on it. Scroll back down to the Two-Factor Authentication for User Interface Logins option and check the box to the right of it.
Scroll all the way back up and click on Save
14. Managing the New Permissions with Users
At the top of the section, click on the Manage Permissions button. Click on Add Assignments and select the checkboxes next to each user that you want to assign the security features.
15. Finalizing Assignments
Once you have selected all users you want to assign the permissions to, click on the Assign button at the top and then click on Done.
Setup complete! The next time the user(s) log in to their Salesforce account(s), they will be prompted for a One-time passcode, you can use the Trusona app to log in.
User Multi-Factor Authentication App Requirement Setup
This guide goes over users setting up the Trusona app for multi-factor authentication after their admin has enabled the security feature requirement on their account. Users should have the Trusona app installed before proceeding.

If your admin has required the Multi-Factor Authentication security feature on your account, you will be shown a screen asking you to Connect Salesforce Authenticator.
Instead, click on the Choose Another Verification Method link below the Back button.
18. Selecting the TOTP Option
You will be shown a list of alternative methods. Select the One-Time Password Generator App option.
19. Scan the QR Code
A QR code will be shown on the screen.
- Open the Trusona app, and tap on the Settings menu
- Tap 2-step verification (TOTP)
- Scan the QR code
- Type in the number you see from the Trusona app
20. Finalize
Enter the code from the app into the screen, then click to submit. If the code entered is correct, you should be able to access your account now.
Setup complete! The next time you log in to Salesforce and are prompted for a One-time passcode, you can use the Trusona app to log in.
