Setting up Trusona for Terraform using 2-Step Verification with TOTP

Installing the Trusona App

Before you get started with the instructions below you'll need to install and register with the Trusona App.

1. Download the Trusona App on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Follow the registration steps in the App.
3. Verify your email by clicking the link from Trusona.
4. You're setup and ready to go!

Terraform Two-factor Authentication Official Guide

Enabling Two-factor Authentication For All Users

1. Log in to Terraform

Log in to your Terraform account.

2. Organization Settings & Authentication

Click on your organization’s name located in the upper-left corner & select the Organization Settings option from the dropdown menu.

On the next page, located the navigation menu on the left and select the Authentication tab.

3. Turning On Two-factor Authentication

Click on the Require two-factor button to enable Two-factor Authentication for all users under your account.

This feature can only be activated if all organization owners have turned on their two-factor authentication setting.

4. Log in to Terraform

Log in to your [Terraform] account(https://www.terraform.io){:target=”_blank”}

5. User Securtiy Settings

Click on your profile icon & select the User Settings option from the dropdown menu.

6. Two-factor Authentication Options

Under the Two-factor Authentication section, you will be given 2 options for how you want to set up and use the security feature. Please select the Application option to proceed.

You will also be asked to enter a phone number as well. This is OPTIONAL if you choose the Application option.

7. Scan the QR Code

A QR code will be shown on the screen.

1. Open the Trusona app, and tap on the Settings menu
2. Tap 2-step verification (TOTP)
3. Scan the QR code
4. Type in the number you see from the Trusona app

8. Finalize

Enter the code from the app into the screen, then click to proceed. It should now show that Two-factor Authentication is Enabled!

You will also be prompted to save backup codes for account access should you not have access to the app. Make sure to store them someplace securely.

Setup complete! The next time you log in to Terraform and are prompted for a One-time passcode, you can use the Trusona app to log in.
